So since as I've acquired a fair number of new friends in the last week or so from various memes, I figured it was about time I did one of these intro things and blah'd about myself a bit. Updated as of 11/07/12
The short version is that my name is Nicola and I live in the UK and have done for most of my life except for the (far too short) time I spent on two different programs in Florida working for Disney World. One just two short months and the other for just over a year. And I'd go back a thousand times if a) it wasn't so hard to leave behind such an awesome life and awesome friends to try and start all over again, and b) didn't have my dog to look after/leave behind. I simply couldn't. We have two dogs, although technically our oldest is the family dog and the youngest is officially mine, even if we both still live with all the rest of them. One day, I tell myself, we will be able to move out and have our own fabulous place. One day.
I work in the slave trade otherwise known as being a restaurant manager for a restaurant/pub in a small village in the country where everybody else knows your business and feels they have a right to know it and I've currently come to the realisation that I hate my job, don't get paid enough and have to do something about it. Therefore I've gone back to my always and forever love of animals, specifically dogs, I have three, one of which is an 11 week old puppy, and am currently studying dog psychology/behaviourism. I could waffle on about dogs for a lifetime and I am sure I go on about my own enough in RL to bore people to pieces.
Right now my fannishness is particularly concentrated in Teen Wolf territory, in particular one Stiles Stilinski who is awesome sauce and wants to spend all his time in the shadows with one sourwolf, Derek Hale, let's face it, that's the real teen wolf story. Other than that I adore both atla and LoK, PJO/HoO and the hunger games.
TV-wise, apart from teen wolf, parks and rec is my happy place and I try and cheer myself up most nights with a re-watch of an episode or two. And I also like to keep up with castle, community, dr who, OUAT, the mentalist, 30 rock and modern family.
Music wise I adore Regina Spektor and anything she does, likewise with Florence and the machine. I love movie soundtracks and musicals and I'm hoping to catch some of the ones touring this year out of London.
Other than that my most favourite way to spend a day, depending on the weather, but right now it's kind of cold so I'm going with that, is being warm and toasty, curling up with a good book or fic, having something you can just gloss over on the tv and drinking a damn good cup of tea.
So that's me.
