Hmmm, if Ethan hasn't figured out that Dawn is the key by now, than he will soon. He's pretty sharp like that.

And the gang isn't real good about keeping secrets. *g*

Ah! Poor Buffy! A break up is never easy.

And I take it they haven't gotten around to telling Ethan about Dawn have they? Ethan will not be pleased.

And what's up with the mental patients? Spooky.

It's not that they haven't gotten around to it. Buffy will probably agree to Ethan being told when hell freezes over...

I thought the poor patients deserved a little more than just 'oh dear, they're all dead' which was all canon gave them.

Did the deaths of the mental patients happen in canon? Or did you set this up so they would meet Ben?

Very much canon, although it was glossed over pretty quickly. The quellor demon went to the hospital and killed them all before tracking Joyce back to the house and trying to kill her because her symptoms made her seem like she was also crazy.

I had forgotten that! Isn't it strange the tidnits you remember and the ones you don't?

Since I'm basing the general outline of this on canon events (the ones that would still happen with the changes I've made), I've had to go back and review the episodes to remind myself of what happened. (Like I need an excuse to re-watch them!)

It was actually kind of shocking how little impact the deaths of a whole ward of helpless people had - seriously, it was on screen for like 30 seconds.

Sigh, see Xander, it all comes out in the end. These things have a way of being uncovered. It's best to just fess up than wait until a time when they can do even more damage. Xander is a sweetie, but he can't protect everyone from life. Just like they're not going to be able to protect Dawn from having to deal with her otherness.

And ewwwww, clear stinky stuff, and BEN! That's a new twist.

And LOL @ Ethan, it's better to keep the chaos mage occupied as far as I'm concerned, Heeeee. Idle hands are the devil's workshop were never truer words than when applied to a bored Ethan. Well Spike too, but he's a respectable Master now, so he's had to settle down some:D

I'm always eager to see what new twist you've put on events.

Good chapter.

And awiating more developments.

Like the whole "kick his ass" thing in canon, which came back to haunt Xander in 7th season. Xander means well, but sometimes he should just remember how much he hates it when people don't tell him things trying to protect him.

I'm so with you on keeping Ethan occupied. Boredom leads to turning people into demons with him - something to be prevented at all costs. *g*

You still rock, I'm loving you version of Buffy. Spike and Xander just keep getting better in your series. You've populated your story w/ people we like and care about. Cindy Lee

Thanks, hun. I'm so glad you're still enjoying this. The muse is still going strong and I keep getting sidetracked by bursts of inspiration that have me writing whole scenes that are 5 or 8 chapters down the road! I've got the next 10 chapters outlined, so I think this will be coming in at about 40 chapters.
