Buffy’s head snapped around in obvious shock. “Right. Them. I forgot. Well, not so much forgot as got sidetracked." She made a face. "Sorry, Giles.”

“Buffy?” Giles asked, looking up from the documents, puzzled by her rambling non-explanation.

“The Knights of Byzantium. They’re in Sunnydale.”

LOL! That is so Buffy. And the COW was completely useless just like in canon.

Looking back at the episode, except for telling them that Glory was a god (which, granted, was pretty big news) the Council really didn't give the scoobies any answers. I had remembered them as having a lot of information but none of it was very useful. Go figure.

I'm already behind on reading, but am stopping by to say Happy New Year. I will catch up again, eventually, because I love this story.

And Happy New Year to you, by the way!! ^^

Dear god, I can't believe how much I hate Travers and his band of moronic minions è_é

Oh, oh, this is getting more and more interesting, I can't wait for the next chapters to come in, I so want to know how you're going to deal with the knights and Glory (especially the Knights: I wonder what Xander will have to say about them!)

Seriously - Travers' speech about how 'the Council fights evil, the Slayer is just our instrument' makes my blood boil everytime. Buffy's slap-down of them has always been one of my favorite episodes.

Next chapter will be up tomorrow morning, the writing's going really well. (I'm so excited that most of the background, build-up stuff is done and now we can get to the action.)

I enjoyed Xander standing up to the Council. This made me laugh out loud: “Since you are not consort, how exactly would you characterize your relationship with the vampire?”

“We live together and have truly spectacular sex on a regular basis,” Xander told him, exasperated, enjoying the flustered look on the man’s face at his bluntness. “Are we through with the voyeuristic part of this conversation?” Spike's arrival made the entire scene even more entertaining and I enjoyed Xander's mental eye rolling at Lydia Chalmer's fangirling and Spike lapping it up as his due. Hysterical.

Xander's pep talk to Buffy was wonderful. I'm delighted you used him to cut through the Council's BS. They just wanted to reassert an authority they hadn't earned, forcing Buffy to bend to their rules. Screw that. I liked Xander's synopsis of Spike's irreverent translation of the conversation, too.

Buffy forgetting to mention The Knights was hilarious.

I absolutely loved Buffy's canon speech to the Council, but strategically I thought they would be much less likely to back down if they had an audience. So I had Buffy confront them "off camera" but Spike doing the vampire eavesdropping thing. I was pleased with my compromise, so I'm glad you enjoyed it.

In canon, Buffy mentions an attack, but doesn't actually say its the Knnights. I assume she told Giles at some later point.
