Art: Scribble Sunset

May 23, 2010 19:57

I did art. It is scribbley and sunsetty and I completely lack objectivity on it because I was there the whole time I was creating it, so any constructive criticism would be wonderful.

I love how the sunset colors turn into rainbow colors on land. That is meaningful in some way I can't put into words.

YOU DIDN'T SCRIBBLE ENOUGH.

:D

Srsly though, I adore the color scheme on the land and would like to see the strands tangled a little more cohesively (but of course, I understand if you are sick of scribbling.) The extra brightness at the division between land and sky is a great touch, too. ^^

There is no such thing as being sick of scribbling. There IS such thing as glancing at the clock and thinking HOW DID IT GET TO BE FOUR AM!!!?

Hmmm. May be tricky, not because I wouldn't want to scribble more, but because I was totally cheating in the first place (in a good way, though, since cheating is the mother of creativity). I'm still on the "I wonder what this button does" stage, and one of the main things I was scribbling with this time was the dodge/burn tool, and another was a gradient that went from black to red the long way around in a kind of dark rainbow and formed the basis of the land. And the erase tool with a black background behind it for the top mostly-right. Fun, but - now I think about it - less flexible than single colours.

Have done some more, and changed the rocks a bit. This is it now:

What were you going to do the next morning that was more important than scribbling? Honestly.

Did the dodge/burn tool bring out that bright red on the land? I really like the red and yellow, actually, and even more in the new version. However, I'm sad that the foreground rocks are completely black now-- the almost-black scribbling was neat.

More scribbling is needed, obvy. :P

I like it! I'd maybe want more shadowy bits but that may just be me.

*grins* Thank you!

Do you mean black possibly-rock shadowy bits, ground-scribble shadowy bits, or sky shadowy bits? If the first, there are now more - you can see the later version in my reply to the Kayliesaur.
