I think that the reason we use Japanese horror tactics is because it isn't as offensive as horror stories from other parts of the world. Like if you think about the two types of horror films are ones that use christian mythology or use just general mythology. But when you did into a subset like Hindu it becomes almost too creepy or too foreign to understand the basic concepts of the movies.

I agree that they're over-doing the whole Japanese thing. But I also admit that I still get scared while I watching 'em. Yeah, I'm a baby. Keep up the good work!
