october, more dogs barking
to come inside to get warm
and take naps, and we keep
up the same pace as if

we aren't tilted away from
the actual source of each
effort we take credit
for. the global

economy is a drunk girl
forgetting what penises
really do, forgetting

we all get old and
need each other
for a lot of
things.

Hi,

My name is Shirene. I read a comment you left at zen_within and checked out your profile. Nice to see you're from Ferndale. I grew grew up in Detroit and will likely visit my family for either Thanksgiving or Christmas and wondered if you know of any zendos or formal places for sitting?

Also I enjoyed reading your poetry so I hope you don't mind that I add you.

Cheers,
Shirene

Thank you so much Ryan!

Seriously you're too kind. I left Detroit when I was 12 and returned for a year when I was 20. My entire year stay, I never met one person that I'd call a friend, so you have restored my faith that there are kind people in that corner of the world.

For some reason the idea of sitting while I'm on vacation really appeals to me, when I know there isn't any difference.

Thank you for your time,
Shirene

Shirene,

There are kind people in Detroit, but most of them are hiding, as they are the minority and don't want to draw too much attention to themselves. I know of a handful. The rest of the city seems to be suffering from some sort of traffic-related mental illness.

Let me know when you'll be in town.

Be well,
Ryan
