Ficathon! (Or ficlet-a-thon, whichever you prefer.)
Now that all the holiday challenges are over, I can finally put my plan for this community into action! I know a lot of people are probably a little burned out, but the minimum word count on this is only 350 (hence "ficlet-a-thon"), and stories aren't due until April 1st, which gives you nearly three months to come up with something. This is just a character-and-prompt challenge, no big assignments. Little character pieces are the goal here.
- There is no sign up deadline. You can sign up any time up until the day stories are due.
- Characters will be chosen at random out of the SGA bowl, the SG1 bowl, or the combined bowl.
- Two prompts will be chosen per person at random. You can write either or both. (Don't worry, I'll make sure the prompt goes with the show - ex., Teyla and Chulak obviously don't work together.)
- minimum word count: 350 - the point of this ficathon is small character pieces. Gen would be great! You can write a 'ship piece, but the character and prompt you were assigned should be the focus.
- If you'd like more than one assignment (only 350 words!) to start out with, please indicate that. One assignment should be in by the deadline, additional assignments can be turned in after.
- If you finish before the ficathon closes and want another assignment, just come back and sign up again with a note saying you've already completed one. Second assignments can be turned in after the deadline.
- Ficlets should be posted to ordinarymoments on or before April 1st.
Your sign up should include:
1) username and email address (so I can send you your assignment)
2) if you want SG1, SGA, or either
3) a maximum of three characters you absolutely cannot write (per show)
4) optional! two prompts: a place (example: Atlantis) and a thing (example: ZAT gun), to be tossed into the prompt pile
