Quick question for travel info ..I am in Potland and I am looking to get from here to Salem. I do not have access to a car but I am looking to hike down to Salem. Are there any camp sites that are with in Walking distance or maybe some public transportation that could drop us uff somewhere close to a campground between Portland and Salem...?

You can actually take public transit from portland to salem. I'll leave it to you to visit the Tri-Met and SMART websites and hash out scheduling.

There's also the option of working out a ride with someone that makes the portland-to-salem trip often, depending on when you want to go and/or come back.

Greyhound has stations in Portland and Salem.

As far as camping sites on the way down there, the only one that I can think of off the top of my head is Champoeg park near Woodburn, but thats a long hike from Portland.
