OK, so last fall/winter was busy, but all that was work-related. I really didn't get any chance to enjoy life. Well, this year is much different. Rather than write numerous separate posts, I'll share it all at one time here, behind the cut.
I had the opportunity to travel south to the lovely
zebraartist 's wedding celebration. I met
zebraartist in person for the first time (She's even more lovely than I imagined!). I also met her husband, and their friends Heidi and Brandon. And... I made a new friend in
ladder7 - we'd never met before my trip down there, but she is a doll and I hope to catch up with her and go shooting next time I head south.
Me groping new bride,

ladder7 Onward to Thanksgiving. I spent the day at my parent's home with the family and my daughter's best friend. All in all, the day was perfect. Food turned out perfectly. Mood in the house was perfect. It was all perfect. (Did I mention how PERFECT it all was? ). I've already shared some of these on my other blog. My apologies to those of you who have already seen these.
Table is set.
Pies have been baked.
My mother was in good health (as good as she can be)- something to be truly thankful for.
Traditions: Sweet tea and candlelight.
Family- Sami and my mother, post dinner.
Save room for desert. :-)
We have now reached the month of December...
I've been meeting up with a few Corvallis locals to plan content and format for a new weekly gathering of tech minded people, social media junkies, and bloggers. Corvallis Beer and Blog is an offshoot of the Beer and Blog group in Portland. We meet once a week (or so) at a local brewery/restaurant to talk tech, blogging, and just socialize. We held our first gathering last Wednesday and to my surprise, the attendance was phenomenal! Here are a couple of shots from the event:
Showing off the group (and the table art). This was shot by Twitter user,
@verso, who had to stand on the bench to nail the shot. She did great (and I'm glad that my guestimates on exposure settings were on target. I really had no idea. :-) )
Everyone was engaged in conversation. It was loud, but very, very satisfying. We meet again on Wednesday.
On Friday, Sami and I headed up to Portland to see Amanda Palmer perform at the Wonder Ballroom. She put on an amazing show. I had never been brought to tears at a concert before, but found myself there- on multiple occasions- throughout the night. It was utterly amazing.
Zoe Keating. I've been a fan since discovering Rasputina so many years ago. Her performance was utterly incredible.
The lovely and talented bad-ass Amanda Palmer.
Amanda Palmer rockin' it as only she can do.
Last night, I attended my company holiday party (in a black velvet floor length dress with lots of sparkle... sooo not me. :-) ). I ended up having a pretty good time, although the wine hangover in the morning was a killer. My dear friends Sandi and Angie (neither of whom I had seen in some time) were there. I visited with them and drank (and drank a little more) and even danced. The dancing might have had something to do with the drinking. Sami snapped a photo- I haven't decided if I am going to share it yet. :-P
This AM, we awoke to the much talked about, much promised snow. So far, we're certainly getting the short end of the stick. Portland fared so much better. But it made for a great AM hike in the Dunn Forest.
Snowy bokeh. Snowkeh?
I think that this would be a great place to ditch a body. Maybe I just watch too many movies.
Sami and the 10D both soaked. She had fun, so I guess it's worth it.
I'm sure I'll post more later. As you can see, it's been a busy couple of months. Something tells me it won't be quieting down for a while. That's OK by me. :-)
Could we be in store for a white Christmas? I sure hope so. Now, say it with me. Snow. Snow. Snow.
