I arrived home this evening to find an unlocked door, a disgruntled cat, and a copy of the Ministry inspectors' report on my kitchen table. The inspectors were nothing if not thorough, at least with regards to the contents of my flat. From the Unbreakable Charms on my windows to the old bottle of Sleekeasy's in the back of the cupboard, anything ( Read more... )

They didn't do anything to Serge, but he's just an ordinary dog.

Poor thing, is he all right now? How are your neighbours?

Serge is right as rain, thanks. Poor Chuckie Bradshaw seems very out of sorts, a little dazed, and though he does know who I am he doesn't remember ever having come over for piano lesson. Worse is Laurie, who wasn't obliviated but now thinks that her wee son is mental and wants to take him to a therapist. I told her to take him to Wayne, just in case he does happen to remember the flying bean tins.

That's horrible about your neighbours! I can't imagine what it must be like for a mother to find her son so changed from one moment to the next. Taking the boy to Wayne sounds like a good idea in any case.

Laurie hasn't connected you with the incident, has she?

This is getting seriously ridiculous. Isn't it infringing on all sorts of privacy rights?

I would think so, but it appears they've got quite a bit of latitude to do as they please. I'll bet they used Terry as an excuse for it as well.

Yeah, they probably did. Nice scapegoat to carve the way and all. Is Crookshanks going to be okay?

Crookshanks should be all right, in theory, but I'm taking him to the healer to be sure. He's not acting any differently, which is a good sign. He's just as indignant as you'd expect him to be though, and if the situation weren't so serious it would be amusing.

Why on Earth would they put a charm on anything you inherited from your Gran? That's just craziness.

Perhaps they, like Trelawney, believe pink patterned china has unique esoteric properties.

How many of us does that make this week who have been "inspected"? When is this going to stop? I'm not sure why the Prophet isn't covering this more in depth. I asked my editor for answers, and was told not to worry about it. Something is seriously going on.
