I have absolutely nothing to write here tonight, because today was completely and utterly unremarkable, but people seem to worry if I don't update and start e-mailing to check if I'm still alive

Actually, I haven't been around b/c of 2 things: My HDD has been on the fritz. Looks like it's getting time to call dell and make them honor that full service on-site 3 year warranty I have on it. Just has to reformat and reinstall.
and 2) I was JUST able to go out and purchase an ethernet card that would phyically be able to fit into the PMCIA cardbus slot with the USB 2.0 card above it. my other ethernet card is physically designed in such a way that makes using in at the same time as my usb 2.0 card impossible.
::sighs:: You do know how stupid I feel right about now? The voice of reason kept telling me that you were just busy moving into your new apartment and catching up with friends, but it does have a tendency to get drowned out by the voice of worry on occasion. I think mom's trained me to take over from her. That's a very scary thought.
In the future, just tell me to stop being a baka. :P
I'm glad you got your technical problems sorted too. Good luck with the Dell technicians. The ones to whom I take my PC always mess up more than they fix. I end up spending a couple of hours sorting out their mess-ups after I get my PC back from them.
I don't think the worrying is abnormal or paranoid. :) I know far too many women who are like that, myself included. (Especially the fear the person you care about may have gotten into an accident if you don't hear from them when they travel somewhere. Might be something kind of hardwired into women from ancient times even.)
