American Observations Part II

Well, I've lived here for a little over two months now, and I have a few things to add to my list. Also, I can't FREAKING wait for the election to be over. soda- not pop
wheat toast- not whole wheat
no ketchup chips :(
No mars bars :(
No smarties :(
and supamahket not grocery store.

And in your case no letter R either unless it's at the beginning of a word, like Righteous.

I love New England!

Nope, just whole wheat bread that's been toasted is called "wheat toast". It makes me laugh every time.

My sister, a maritimer, went to Houston on contact with NASA and she just hated the USA slang on words (soda, restroom etc). She thought it was ridiculous! Over Thanksgiving, she asked Jason and I to pick-up a few things for dinner. Pop was one of those items, and I had mistakenly called it soda, lol

..I came into the house the next day and I said, "Pammy, we're here... Where are you? I'm throwing my sweater on the floor, I'm registering Republican...."

Pam comes down the stairs, quite clearly already irritated with me teasing about my very non-existant Republican affiliations.
"There you are," I said, "We've just come from the supahmahket. I've got your soda and wheat toast. I've put them down beside the downstairs restroom."

That's just my pointless story :P

And in the south, if you ask for "tea" you will get iced tea. You must specify "Hot tea" if you want hot water with leaves in it. Reminds me of that Celebrity Jeopardy with Keanu Reeves...hahah
