Well, it took me two weeks to get through the entire manga, but I've done it \o/ And I'm so glad I did, you know, not only to refresh myself on characterization and plot, but to relive the entire experience again. And what an experience it was :'D Refueling old loves, not only the series as a whole, but characters I had forgotten how much I used to

104: Akutsu and Echizen have a laughing match. This ritual apparently happens sometimes when two players recognize each other's strength :x ( ... )

Death by tennis would be... *cough*tragic :x

Seeing him as a complete panorama instead of a series of isolated snapshots made me love him even more. :)
Indeed, tragic. more or less than death by bowling, though?

Bowling + juice!zombies? ...Tough call.

374: "But if Yukimura-buchou isn't here, our 3rd consecutive win will have a blind spot!" (Kirihara) "It may not have been expected, but don't let this overwhelm you." (Yukimura) <-- this is completely turned around in the anime, which ruins everything /: In the anime, this becomes "Just rest easy! Even without you, Yukimura-buchou, Rikkai'll get its third straight win with no catches!" (Kirihara) "Saying something like that... I feel a bit snubbed." (Yukimura) The characterizations are a bit... asdfkljh ): Not necessarily *bad*, but different.
"This sure is a severe and incurable disease, isn't it? Tennis is probably impossible already for him..." <-- doctors, about Yukimura.
"Yukimura, I'm sorry. During the Kantou finals, Seigaku..." (Sanada) "Didn't I tell you not to talk to me about tennis!? Why don't you just go home already!!?" (Yukimura) <-- and he cries. With the entire team outside but he doesn't care, because ( ... )

Ooh, I had no idea about the mistranslations, thanks for letting me know! I remember reading about the hospital scene change before, but that completely slipped my mind, haha... I'm always a bit wary taking scanlations as being exact, for this reason. Not that indirect translation is bad so long as the meaning's the same, but I get curious about speech quirks and whether a character uses honorifics, and i can never find raws to double check against xD;;;;
What's this about 'Genichirou'? DDDD:

I found PoT raws of the tankoubons!! http://rawscans.com Best site ever ;3;
"Genichirou" was in the line "you would've lost" in chapter 300's weekly version. Then in the tankoubon, it got retconned to Sanada. T_____T I remember when we first saw the weekly and collectively creamed our pants because Yukimura called Sanada "Genichirou". LOL But it turned out to be fluke. U_U Some of the names get changed too... it's not that consistent, maybe because he forgets what they refer to each other as? Yanagi calls Yukimura "Seiichi" in some texts and "Yukimura" in others and vice versa. I don't know if it all got retconned in the tankoubons though. :(

Ah! <3 You are the best :DDDD
Ooh D: With 200+ characters, it probably does get confusing sometimes. But I would have thought the Troika'd be on first name bases with each other. I wish, at least :'D

-->LOL Akutsuuu~!
230: Sanada's insane when he plays. Echizen... is Echizen, so even though the score is currently 1-5, we know he'll win consecutive games and make his comeback :x I sort of feel like the series would have a lot more meaning if Seigaku were to lose here, have Echizen grow and learn from the loss, and then come back as the challengers and defeat Rikkai in the second round. But maybe that's just me.
--> No, no. It's not just you. And not just because it's Sanada, either. Echizen - and Seigaku in general - would be more likeable if they lost now and then. One loss (that isn't to his father) would be well-received, I think. Victory is sweeter after bitter defeat, so to speak.
And YES Sanada is insane but I love how he never asks more of his teammates than he does of himself. I also love how their shirts conveniently fly up when they play. >_>

Like that, exactly D: There was something that might have been in the anime(?), I'm not entirely sure, but it was Ryuzaki(?) saying that Hyoutei(?) will come back even stronger than ever because they've experienced defeat as a team. My memory's a bit fuzzy as you can tell, but the message is there! Sort of like Yukimura's favorite saying, "Only when one has experienced the coldness of winter, can one know the warmth of spring."

The notes about Ibu are really interesting too.
Atobe the jerkass… I love Atobe and his jerkassery!
Dude, I like Mizuki as one of my favorite characters. I'm usually not drawn to uncaring, but I do seem to like manipulative characters… and there's just something about Mizuki. Hmm indeed.
"I sort of really resent parts of the fandom that focus on a series just because of ~*pretty boys*~ and completely ignore characterization and depth"
AMEN SISTER. AMEN!
Sakaki (43) !
I watched the anime AND read the manga very out of order, so I liked Atobe a whole lot before I got to the earlier stuff lol. Then I was like "What a jerk! But I still love him as my no. 1!"
I hated Yanagi's old haircut hardcore. It is no secret.
204: PURI IS THE JAPANESE SFX FOR ANGER.
/learned thing today
"Taki still hangs out with the team like he's a part of it," ROFLOLOLOLOL. Oh Taki ;-;

@Puri; I've always just glanced over author's notes in the manga because they were too small to read xD But there's actually some pretty interesting/important stuff there, like the Puri thing! Though Niou doesn't say it only when he's angry, just whenever, sometimes, right? xD;;
To be honest, Sanada accepting second was my favorite part of the last chapter. It could have ended right there without anything following after, and I would have been all right :'D
