Article I could have written years ago-
The Child Man - Today's single young men hang out in a hormonal limbo between adolescence and adulthood:
This article was inspiring. Only I don't know why she's limiting this new breed of loser to white men. Immature dorks can be found in every ethnic group. Like the one I'm not dating right now. He's not a ( Read more... )

Fiber optic light-up floral arrangements! Also, remember the ones that had, like, fake water droplets running down the fibers that formed a cage around Jesus or the Virgin Mary. There is also usually plastic greenery involved.

YES! There's a name for it!
I thought those were the greatest things in the world until I was about 13. It was my goal that when I grew up I'd have one of those, and the fake fountain things.
And the giant watch/clock. And fake Greek pillars. Ahh.

Remember her video...it kinda looked like one of those Calvin Klein ads for his unisex fragrance. She's great.

Yeah, we have all these horrible family pictures with the plastic covered furniture in the background...so terrible!
And I've lost count of all the white leather rooms. Oh man...white leather furniture! Everything looked like a bad music video and no one could sit down, we used to tip-toe through the rooms because we were afraid of ruining the carpet.

And I don't even want to talk about all the (train-w)reck rooms and fuzzy wallpaper.

It's so funny, I made this post and then I went through my friends page and I saw yours! Awesome. I'm totally coming out of my Robyn closet, and with pride! Her songs are awesome, and her videos are simply adorable!

Behavioral economics. Many have said what he has already said; his book is like a greatest hits collection. But yes, Man-Children are why I seem to be dating/fucking men in their forties instead of in my peer group...AND OMG I won't even consider dating heavy gamers. The difference between a man and a boy is the price of his toys, lol...

Brilliant! And I'll have to check out that book, looks like a good read.

The man-child phenomena has reached dizzying heights in my town where owning a bomg and an x-box seem to be major priorities of almost any guy under 35. Vomit. My new rules...i scan the apartment. If I can see a video game console, any sort of pipe or paper smoking contraption and a six pack in the fridge, it's not going to work out. And no roomates!

I grew up with video games. With computers in general. Used to go with dad to teh Medical College, or mom to Marquette, and play teh agmes the grad styudent'd leave on the mainframes. Star Trek (later, Star Wars). Hammurabi. Whatever. Pong was actually a revelation to me (though do note that Asteroids had already debuted a couple/few years earlier in Soylent Green). ever had home systems, though we did have the Vic 20, then the Commodore 64. Did some obligatory arcade time in the 80s (Battlezone, Armor Attack, uh, Sub Roc 3D, probably lost my physics degree to a new, vastly improved Star Trek game), but ( ... )

It's a good point. Women with stuffed animal collections are troubling. I think that a great deal of obnoxious female behavior that I see among women in my age group (which Ariel Levy so appropriately coined Female Chauvinist Pigs) is last resort behavior to trap a good child-man or the sad after-effects of the failure to obtain one, like this hysterical obsession with sex toys and stripper dancing classes and what have you.
But I've watched guys turn from decent to exactly like that article over the course of a few weeks. They move in with a few of their buddies and it's over.

No wonder a good man is hard to find. And here I thought it was all my fault!
