CHARACTER:
Name: Konan
Age: Exact age unknown, but around 34-35 (Appears to be in mid twenties)
Series: Naruto
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Occupation: Kunoichi, God's Angel
Point of canon to be drawn in: Directly after the fight with Jiraiya, after Pein has saved her and taken over the fight
Preferred level: Elysium.
Appearance: By all outward appearances, Konan passes for a woman in her mid-twenties, rather than the early-to-mid thirties woman that she is.
Konan is 5'6" with medium-length blue hair, almost always constrained in a knot that is held in place by a white origami rose worn on her right side, bangs almost always escaping to hang over her eyes until brushed back to rest near her ear. She is moderately curvy, and lightly muscled, though she likely looks a touch frailer than she really is. DO NOT BE FOOLED!
Her clothing is outwardly modest, as at first glance all one can see is the black cloak with the red clouds that marks her as a member of Akatsuki. Beneath the robes, however another side of Konan is seen, a woman wearing a sort of halter-dress, baring cleavage and belly. Still, despite the clothing beneath the robe, she does not believe in parading herself or overtly displaying herself unless such a thing is called for, for whatever reason. However, she does indulge in wearing black nailpolish, always lacquered and shiny.
Personality: Konan is very calm and practical. She guards her "friends" closely, though at the moment she only considers her partner amongst the Akatsuki, Pein to be a true friend, their closeness long-stemming from childhood. Beyond that she is quiet, preferring to listen and learn, rather than get overzealous or upset over something that could lead to an explosion of temper.
Overall, despite her willingness to talk and try new things, she remains a reserved woman, preferring to deal with her emotions in her own manner, rather than expressing them too publicly and having to deal with possible repercussions. Not to say that she doesn't possess them, simply that she keeps them beneath the surface of a very convincing mask. They are meant for herself and herself alone, not something to be spoken of freely.
This is not to say she is a completely shut-off person. But breaking through that level of cool ice is extremely hard. Something Konan is almost proud of, in her own modest way. Also, she is not lazy. She enjoys quiet moments to herself to perfect her art, but Konan is well-versed in fighting and self-defense, even if she rarely sees reason to use it. To train the mind you must train the body, and she never lets one side become unbalanced for want of spoiling the other with overindulgence.
Konan is respectful and formal to those around her, preferring not to get too close or honor someone's name too informally. A polite use of the honorific "san" keeps people at just the right distance to better gauge them. If she is treated with respect, she will return it, no matter what her view of someone is. Even if they are enemies, on opposite sides, she will at least extend that cool courtesy.
Abilities: Konan is an S-ranked criminal, a member of the Akatsuki. Because of this, we can surmise she wields a nice amount of power. This lady's particular special abilities stem from the use of origami. Mere slips of paper can become a lethal weapon to Konan, as she can fold and them it into most anything she wishes. Also, she herself can become paper, dividing a hundred fold and often using it to track someone in the form of paper butterflies or a pair of large paper wings that lend her the appearance of an "Angel."
History: When she was younger, Konan, Pein (who was at the time known as Nagato), and Yahiko were left orphaned by one of Amegakure's many wars, forcing them to fend for themselves. The three eventually encountered Jiraiya, who looked after them for about three years and taught them basic ninjutsu so that they would be able to defend themselves. The four worked closely together as a sort of odd family unit and were all closely linked, though the children were closer to one another than Jiraiya was to them. Jiraiya had believed Konan to have died with Nagato and Yahiko some time later until he ran into them once more and was drawn into battle with them.
Pein arrived to save Konan, after she had been doused with oil from Jiraiya's attack, rendering her skills and abilities with paper useless. By then though, Jiraiya had found out the identity of the two and asked about Yahiko, wondering if he were dead and the other two the sole survivors of the trio of needy children he had raised for a few years and taught to survive on their own.
False memories: As with canon, her memories here are parallel, to some degree. Konan's family were lost to violence when she was a young girl, leaving her orphaned. She made do relying on (and being relied upon) by her childhood friend, Nagato, and her other friend, Yahiko. Nagato and Konan especially stuck together, learned to fight, learned to defend themselves and attack if fought against. They were taken in together for a time, taught to hone their skills so that they would be able to survive in the world alone. Konan learned to depend on herself, carving a successful life for herself even with she lost touch with her childhood friend, to her displeasure (and perhaps deep down distress).
Even then, to now, Konan has remained ladylike, ever flowing with her environment. It's far easier to learn to adapt to what happens and find an advantage for it, than to simply fight and fight until exhausted. Working at Blood Moon gives her ample oppurtunity to listen silently, and she feels few give her a second thought, using that quiet patience to advantage. Everything learned and remembered can be of use at some time or another, and that is what she plans on.
