Note for me: hair color diary

Jan 08, 2012 21:24

colored hair today.  hair length is 6 in beyond mid-shoulder.
Last colored on late Sept/early oct?  Completely forgot.  Roots are about 1in or so long.

Roots: took about 30 min to apply
-2 oz of clariol 6AA
-2 oz of 30% vol H2O2
-1/2 oz each: blue tint + 30% vol H2O2
start at back then work to front. Make sure all roots covered, but dont over stimulate roots.  had leftovers.  Left on for 20-25 min.

Ends: about 10 min to apply.
-leftover of above (1 oz or less left)
-1 oz each: demi clariol leftover 6a + demi H2O2 (used Herbashine peroxide)
Mix well.  apply past roots to tips.   ran comb through hair, making sure everything is colored.  Very quick to do this.  Left on for 10 min.  again avoid overstimulating roots.

ULTIMATE goal is to have dye on roots for 45 min. if less than 45 min, color wont seep through.  if more than 45 min, too orangey roots.  can check test strand hair near ear to see color outcome.  if looks good, ready to rinse.  rinse til no dye (rinsed dye is VERY BLUE).  put on ion color lock shield conditioner for 10 min.  rinse off.  (you can see how outcome is by hair sheddings on the tub!)

roots at first look a bit brassy at bathroom lighting but as hair dries off, does not look so.  overall hair color when in process of drying looks coopery at bathroom lights and kitchen.  when dry, dark brown shade with very minimal brassiness; not as dark as MUA post.  total time of dying = about 3 hrs incl. bath.

Bedroom lights + flash photobooth shot.  pic is more brassy than real life
