Things were...confusing.

Less so, following her conversation with Captain Kirk, but the fact remained that they were apparently on a strange alternate version of their own ship, without any visible means of getting back; and that, moreover, the Captain, CMO, First Officer, and Head Nurse had apparently been here for several monthsUhura decided ( Read more... )

Christine was sitting at the table, working on her PADD.

"Come in," she called out at the chime, somewhat surprised. She wasn't expecting anyone. Perhaps Tina had decided to take her up on her offer to watch Pasha for a few hours?

She looked up as the door swooshed open, and froze, her eyes going wide as she stared.

"...Nyota?"

Uhura smiled a little hesitantly. "Christine."

She stepped further into the room, pausing after a few strides, uncertain. It had, after all, been months for Christine. And she seemed so very surprised to see Uhura there.

"I just arrived." She fidgeted. "I just spoke to the Captain. He explained everything."

"Oh god - Nyota." Christine dropped her PADD, flying to the door to wrap the other woman in a tight embrace. "It's so good to see you." She couldn't stop herself from smiling, even as she pulled away, looking at Nyota with concern. "But - I'm so sorry this has happened to you too." She was automatically checking her over for injuries, her eyes flying over her, quick but professional. "You're not hurt, though? How did you arrive? Did you just - appear here, too?"

Christine's embrace was so familiar, so welcome and reassuring, that Uhura couldn't help but grin as she gripped Christine by the upper arms, eyes smiling at her friend's automatic medical instincts.

"Transportation issue," she explained, smiling. "I was attempting to beam back up with a party - we'd stopped off to retrieve supplies - and somehow I beamed here instead." She shrugged. "I'm not injured, though. We'd been expecting you back - you only disappeared two or three days ago, as our time moves."
