Asch fon Fabre had never been particularly fond of school. While he was much better at some aspects of it than his arrogant idiot of a twin, he had never been able to excel at math. He started on the first problem, vaguely aware of Guy looking at his paper. He wanted to snort, to yell at Guy and tell him to leave the paper alone. However, Guy was continually gentle, rather like Asch's mother, and that kept him quiet. Guy hadn't entirely gotten on his bad side yet.
He wrote out numbers and symbols and even more numbers, and yet it didn't seem to be making sense. His answers weren't anywhere near anything that sounded right, and that served to frustrate him even more. He grumbled under his breath, starting to get frustrated.

He leaned in a bit more, pointing to a section of the solution Asch had been writing. "Okay, this one's good up until this step here. Do you know what's missing?"

"You don't have to do this step if you know the squares," Asch replied with as much calmness as he could muster. "9 squared is 81 and 7 squared is 49. Nothing changes that."

It was such a small mistake - plenty of people did it. Though he did know that most people felt stupid for it, so he made sure he didn't look judgemental. The kid wasn't stupid, just not looking closely enough.

Aside from the touch, Asch was finding himself impressed with the older student. Guy wasn't being snooty or obnoxious towards him, and Asch didn't mind his presence, so long as he remained that way. Even the touch was becoming less of an issue. Asch had avoided being touched by most of the people in his life, and such an informal touch had left him curious about being touched more often.
