Ch. 3 - Some questions are inevitable for Jack of Fables

[Written // Locked to men only]

We've got plenty of other hotblooded men around here, right? Sure, some of you are pretty girly looking - which is confusing, by the way. Not the point. There's a ton of babes running around here. Hotness central. Unnaturally huge knockers run rampant in this freakshow of a village. Hard for a guy like me to pick ( Read more... )

[Robert decides to chime in here, since he likes Litchi so far - even if strictly friendship-wise.

He hadn't really considered whether she was attractive or not. He... supposed she was, though... Well, for a woman, anyway.]

Litchi is a wonderful example of a person. Whomever she is with, if she is with anyone, is surely very enamoured of her.

Her friend - the one she turned into during the experiment, the tall blonde man in the coat - was attractive himself if I am at liberty to say so.

[Robert's actually really thrilled to hear that Litchi's partner appreciates her intelligence.] I wish you and Doctor Faye-Ling much happiness, then.

I am honoured to meet someone who is so important to her. [He truly is.]

Hey, thank you. Really.

My name's David Jordan, by the way. Nice to meet you.

I am Professor Robert Alexander Hastings... Likewise, I am glad to have met you, Mr. Jordan. [Probably the most awkward way to meet somebody ever! But Robert isn't complaining too much.

Though he'll probably blush a bit if this comes up again. You could totally do it to tease him. *shot*]

A professor? Quite the prestigious title. What fields do you specialize in, if you don't mind my asking?

[Robert's voice just gets a little more... proud?... as he speaks next. Not too puffed-up, but enough to show that he still thinks that being a scientist is important.] I specialize mostly in astrobiology, but also have a prurient interest in genetics and biochemistry.

However, I enjoy keeping my scope as broad as possible. All scientific knowledge is worth acquiring.

Astrobiology? The study of life from outer space? If I wasn't in Luceti for awhile, I'd be a lot more skeptical of that. Never discovered alien life in my universe. Or not yet, anyway.

I'd be more of a physics guy. Have to be, as a pilot.

[A pause. Robert's not used to being from the world that's hard to believe.] I could hardly blame you for being skeptical. I have been nothing but skeptical since I came to Luceti.

A pity I don't have my nanocomputer with me. I would be most pleased to show you the specimens in my database there.

[Robert's interested in the fact that David's a pilot.]

A pilot? So you have flown an aircraft then? [He guesses that it wouldn't be a kind he's familiar with, though.]
