People are reflecting. People are thinking of a past, of a present, and of a future. We divide our lives into "time," and decide that this is how we will measure our lives. But you're right. You should be the among the last to speak of acceptance. Probably I'm the only one less apt to speak of it than you, in fact, and that's why I'm not going to get into it.

I had a conversation recently about the difference between "complacence" and "acceptance." The biggest difference, it seems to me, is that acceptance is an active thing and complacence is passive. I would venture to say that the emotions you see all around you and in yourself are a means to that particular active end, especially when taking into consideration the people you affiliate yourself with. The whole is greater than the sum of all parts, yes, but you can't cook a meal without first having the proper ingredients.
