Doo Doo-Dum Doo, Doo Doo-Dum Doo

Sometimes, you come across a song that just tears your heart apart. Here's to torn hearts.

The dawn is breaking,
A light shining through.
You're barely waking,
And I'm tangled up in you, yeah.

I'm open, you're closed,
Where I'll follow you'll go.
I worry I won't see your face...
Light up again.

Even the best fall down sometime.
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme.
Out of the doubt that fills my mind,
I somehow find, you and I collide.

I'm quiet, you know.
You make a first impression.
I've found I’m scared to know,
I'm always on your mind.

Even the best fall down sometime.
Even the stars refuse to shine.
Out of the back you fall in time,
Somehow find, you and I collide.

Don't stop here.
I lost my place.
I'm close behind.

Even the best fall down sometime.
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme.
Out of the doubt that fills your mind,
You finally find, you and I collide.
You finally find, you and I collide.
You finally find, you and I collide.

"Collide," Howie Day

You know, it's weird. I went on a date last Tuesday with someone utterly infatuated with me, calling me things like "gorgeous," filling up this blimp on my shoulders with more hot air about my wit. And yet, I do not return his feelings; in fact, I have absolutely no interest in him and will probably let this sinking boat do just that. But I so do like being flattered. More than the flattery, though, I crave the emotion behind it. The admiration, the respect, the love. And there is only one from whom I want that now, but we have reached a strait of sorts. Have we collided so strongly that we repel one another? Could two persons be too perfect for each other that collision is not only inevitable, but also disastrous?

He used to ask me why I love him. I sent him a picture of himself, smiling back at me, asking, "How could anyone not love you?" One need only LOOK and the answer is as clear as a summer day in June. And I am no stronger than anyone else, and in fact, weaker than most. And just like that photograph and the message behind it, like a well-laid plan, our final collision was inevitable.
