     I don't like my brother Robert. In fact it's a much stronger emotion than that. He's done horrible things to me and my parents and to every girl I've ever seen him with. He's a immature, violent, angry, troubled person who I try to avoid.  I do my best not to have anything to do with him or any girl foolish enough to actually date him

You already regret not meeting the baby. Don't regret not going to the funeral. Even if you don't stay for the full funeral, at least making an appearance will mean so much compared to not showing at all.

Thats more than likely what I'm going to do. I just worry that the person I care for least in this world is going to hate me... it doesn't make sense in my head. Actually more than anything I wonder if seeing me there will infuriate him to the point of violence which was never that far off with him to begin with.

adam...so sorry to hear of your family's loss. go to the wake/funeral. if nothing else it gives you the chance to say goodbye to your nephew. family issues are always hard, and complex...but in the end it is how you handle it that shows the man you are...
