The sun shined brightly in the blue afternoon sky. Despite the cold wind, Uruha felt completely warm. He was protected from the elements by a black cat-eared hat, a puffy white coat, purple and white snow pants, and stylish black boots. He felt amazing, being outside with Aoi.
Uruha looked Aoi over hungrily as he was paying for their tubing passes. Aoi’s long black hair cascaded over his back and shoulders, lifting in the wind from beneath a twin to Uruha’s hat. His dark brown eyes sparkled with excitement as he took the passes from the cashier. Uruha moved his eyes lower, taking in the rest of his beloved Aoi’s form. A sleek ,stylish, black winter coat, black and white snow pants, and black combat boots had just the right effect on Aoi. No one else could look that good in snow gear. To Uruha, Aoi was the most cute and charming person in the world.
As soon as Aoi helped him put on his tubing pass, he grabbed the raven-haired boy’s hand and pulled him toward the tubes. They each grabbed their own huge, tire-like tube and ran to the lifts, almost tripping over each other in the process.
“Hey guys! Over here!”
Uruha turned his head to spot the source of the familiar voice. It was Kai, his cute face lit up with a smile. He wasn’t alone though. Ruki, Reita, Maya and Hiroto-a boy from Uruha’s classes, were right beside him. With all of his friends smiling and beckoning Aoi and himself to join them in the line for the lifts, Uruha felt obligated to go over to them.
Uruha did like all of them; Ruki, Kai, and Reita were his best friends nd the others were good guys, but Uruha wanted Aoi to himself.
“Well hello there! How are you guys?” Aoi greeted Kai and the others cheerfully, grabbing Uruha’s hand and leading him over to the group. Aoi had no problem sharing Uruha with his friends, as they were all already attached to someone else.
“Great! School has been boring, though. By the way, where have you guys been? You both have been absent for awhile now.” Hiroto asked sweetly, being truly concerned for Aoi and Uruha.
“Uhhh…I…we…” Aoi stumbled over his words, going silent and scratching his head, frantically searching for a way out of the question.
“Oh, Aoi had a case of pneumonia, and I was taking care of him while his mom was at work.” Uruha quickly and seamlessly fabricated the lie, making everyone believe it. It was at least semi-truthful, he thought to himself.
“Awww, so sweet! I wish my boyfriend would be nice enough to take care of me when I’m sick!” Ruki pouted teasingly, poking Reita in the cheek. Reita blushed and looked down at his shoes, making everyone burst out laughing.
They were at the front of the line now. One by one, they sat down on their tubes and got hooked up to the lift that pulled them up the hill. When his turn came, Uruha quickly sat on his tube. The lift jerked forward, almost knocking him off of his tube. The worker hooking the tubes to the lift laughed lightheartedly at Uruha, and he blushed in embarrassment.
He didn’t have time to dwell on the embarrassment as he was being pulled up the hill. As he was going up, he took in the huge hill in it’s entirety. It was crowded with people and the snow sparkled in the sun. There were 5 slopes on the hill, each with it’s own unique bumps. Uruha noticed with cold fear that he could easily fall of the hill from the lift he was on. He made a mental note to go up the other lift next time around.
All of a sudden, a worker was yelling at Uruha. He was way past where he was supposed to have rolled of ad walked the rest of the way up the hill with his tube. His tube unlatched from the lift, and with a sickening feeling, he realized that he was starting to go down the lift slope backward.
Before Uruha could even let the scream that was welling up in his throat come out, Aoi was there. As swift as a ninja, he grabbed Uruha and his tube and carried them the rest of the way up the hill.
