In this case the B and B stands for Bucklers and benches.
rosenkavalier some time ago asked me to make a copy of the interestingly shaped bucklers shown in the 1467 edition of Talhoffers fechtbuch; this is the result.
The image above is the basic shape of the buckler formed up from a sheet of 16g steel and still black from the forge.
Here it has been edged with pieces of 2mm thick steel cut and shaped to fit the cusped edging and rivited in place, this job alone took me a whole day to do.
This is a nice close up of the flutting in the main body of the buckler.
This is the buckler finished with the rounded ends added to the two points and the handle fitted, just prior to its hand over as a "dodgey package" in the ellsinor at this aprils Whitby goth weekend!
Shot of the back showing the handle and the distinctive curved shape of the buckler.
And now for something a damn sight easier to make:
This is the work bench i made for
rosenkavalier as a house warming or rather a garage warming present for his new place.
Whilst i do not claim to be any kind of joiner i do make any woodwork bomb proof and i am happy to test this by jumping up and down on it.
not quite sure what his new neighbours thought of it all!
