I, for one, welcome our new spider overlords.
Our patio has been invaded by spiders.
They have appeared before, for the last seven years or so. First, one of them, and if you let them be, suddenly you have a whole colony: Sunday I counted ten of them.
They are big, for spiders with catching webs (sorry, I forgot the technical term). They have elongated abdomens, green with black (bottom), white (middle) & yellow (top) spots, and long, black & tan/golden legs.
But the most striking feature of these spiders is their web: it is big, thick and golden. It is the only golden spiderweb I have ever ever seen.
What? Pictures? Hmmmm, I have plenty, but I think a close-up will be enough:
Sadly, the raindrops and the lack of sunlight did not allow me to phtograph thier beautiful golden webs. Oh well... :)
