it just doesn't matter

i have a relatively new philosophy on life. nothing matters. it's stupid but true. think about whatever it is that is stressing you out. most likely that thing won't matter in a matter of months or even weeks so it's really not worth freaking out over. in the long run, it won't mess up the turn out of your life or determine what kind of person you ( Read more... )

haha. i've thought that before. but then i realized, if we think like that all the time, we're going to be really unsuccessful in life... since we have this philosophy of "oh, fuck it." But some people have really high goals, because it's what makes them happy... having something they want to achieve. Fror example, I really, really, really want to go to Stanford. I have little chance of getting in now, but every A i get on a test or in a class brings me closer to that goal. If i went to Stanford, i know i'd be happier than i've ever been. So that's basically it: people try as hard as they can FOR a reason. It's not worthless. It just depends on 1) what kind of goal a person wants to achieve and 2) how motivated the person is to get that goal. <3 ya!

yeah, i know what you mean. i just meant for the small things. in that case i wouldn't be like "fuck it." but for some things you freak out about, it won't alter your life. i dunno, i have high goals career-wise so that stuff i take very seriously but in my case getting an A won't matter later in my life so i just don't care that much. but for going to Stanford i'm sure it does matter, but there are probably other things that worry you that when you think about it, won't matter in a year or so. well whatever. i dunno, it's too deep for my brain. <3
