You said it T.
Big hugs.
May you stay safe and be happy. And may next year be one of further advancement toward what's right and away from the evil consuming so much of our world.

Christmas in Uganda ext_212725 December 17 2009, 20:55:23 UTC
I read about the debate - it's not law yet - in Uganda last night and had the same sinking feeling. I found myself praying that the whole thing would blow over before Travis heard about it. Something is happening in the world. People are afraid to be for anything to the left or right of the majority. It's as true in Uganda as it is in California. I grew up in a very homophobic environment. I had gay friends in high school before the word "gay" was commonly used. When my father met them, he was horrified. One of them sewed all his own clothes. His was hoping to become a fashion designer. Most boys (we were boys back then) were hoping to be race car drivers or engineers. I wanted to sew my own clothes too. I could talk with him for hours about it. And yet, as you know, I'm not gay. Their sexual orientation, a term that did not yet exist, was never the issue. It was their interests that interested me. Another was an aspiring actor, something you can relate to. Our brilliant interior decorator was obviously gay. My family insisted he was ( ... )

In early Christian history when Paul was writing to the Corinthians he wrote something quite gorgeous, 1 Cor. 13, or the love chapter. This is read often at weddings...but what most Christians forget or don't realize is that what Paul wrote about love was not just to be read at nuptials, but was to define and differentiate between Christianity and other beliefs ( ... )

Try not to let the talibaptists get you down. I'm not sure about a whole lot of stuff regarding religion, but I do know that the Christ's message of love, hope, grace and forgiveness is worthy of my attention. With all of the insane garbage the fundamentalists blast into the discourse though - it can be hard sometimes to not throw Baby Jesus out with the bath water.
