here's an idea....

pony flash mob.

the mind boggles, doesnt it? :)

pick a medieval dance tune.
develop a choreography that isnt too advanced or too long. include some "low impact" moves for ponies who cant do strong laterals at faster gaits, etc.
people practice at home
show up at an event with your horse and lets all get our groove thing on!

If I was able to go to events at all, I certainly wouldn't find such things boring! Beyond my ability to do personally, certainly, but so are many things, but not boring...

I don't think it's boring at all. Everyone on the ponies looked *so* amazing, and looked like you were all having so much fun!!

I think it's awesome that you're following your joy and encourage others to do the same.

If everyone had to conform to one specific activity or level of involvement that would get boring quickly, but following your own path al leaving others to find theirs is double++GOOD. :)

This discussion came up on the steps again recently with someone claiming that those "pushing" authenticity are ruining the game for everyone else. My response was- so long as you're not breaking rules and actively taking away from the enjoyment of others I don't see why you can't play your way while I play mine.

I personally love hearing about your wonder pony adventures. :)

I think that was the big beef, that it's actually in the law, although I think it is one of those things that's open to interpretation. We're all learning and growing. I'd still love to see a display at 12th night sometime of "first" or early garb from people who are now seen as being bastions of great historical accuracy so people can see that they didn't spring fully formed from the head of Zeus either. :)

The law states that people "Willingly maintain and increase the authenticity of their accoutrement, speech, and conduct, thus elevating the spirit that should be fostered in these Current Middle Ages."

For some people an increase in authenticity is pouring their soda or beer out of a can into a mug, or trying not to talk about modern politics or computers at events, while for others that increase has come down to looking for little details that can be improved on.

I'd like to think it's more our job to inspire and offer both encouragement and information and leave the pace and path of learning up to the individual.
