This is beautiful. It really conveys both Lily's Gryffindor bravery even at a young age and Severus' terrible plight. And that last line is so powerful - it just conveyed layers of meaning, I loved it!
I really loved this. You've managed to capture such a great moment from their childhood and write it in a way that brings out both their characters and that sense of childhood innocence. That, and I'm only really starting to read some Lily/Snape, so good fic like this is much appreciated. ;)
