On this day back in 1901, Guglielmo Marconi demonstrated the first transatlantic radio signal. Wired.com article

Upon being told the news, Nikola Tesla was reported to say, "Marconi is a good fellow. Let him continue. He is using seventeen of my patents."

There is still something to say for actually doing it.

Mostly though, I think of what that quote would look like today. Given that Tesla's IP would more likely be owned by some patent trolls he had no control over… “Marconi's using seventeen of our patents? Sure we'll let him continue. Just an easy twelve mil now, plus twenty percent of anything he ever sells, and he can get back to advancing civilization. We're reasonable men.”
