You are a tinkerer par excellence! Come on over, I have gizmos that need fixing too :)

I like that big hefty solid kind of pen. My handwriting, on the other hand, isn't kind to nibs.

Hahah ;) I'd like to be even more of a tinkerer than I am.
Isn't it a style? Can't beat it. The stains on it I was able to lessen, but not remove entirely, but I think they give it character~
Are you one of those "breaks pencil lead every four minutes" writers?

"breaks pencil lead every four minutes"

How did you know???

My brother back when he worked in finance and was making lots of $ started a collection of fountain pens. He gave me a beautiful one in black lacquer with a Japanese design on it. I'll be damned if I know where I put it. You've given me the impetus to look for it now :)

You break through pencil lead, I pick off nail polish. There's no winning sometimes. ;)

That's awesome though! You should def find that pen, and post pictures when you do! It sounds like a cool one. :)
There are some Fancy Pens out there. People drop some serious cash on them... o__o;;

Whoa, that looks like quite the project! But it writes beautifully, looks like. And you have very pretty handwriting.

It turned out really well! That nib is actually 14K solid gold, surprise! The lettering wasn't legible when it was covered in grime, so that was a pretty rocking find once I cleaned it up. It writes well, and I think that's a big part of the reason why.
It wasn't as awful a project as I feared, actually! Pretty simple, just a few steps. :) Now I seriously have a hankering to find more pens and get them working though. @_@ It was so fun!!

Exactly! It's nice to A) know I had a hand in making it work again and B) know exactly how it works inside and out. Makes writing feel that much more important. :)
And thanks! It's so fun to take a project to completion and get a functioning piece of history out of it. I am pleased.

Hehe! Thanks! I should have taken a pic of the pen with the new rubber sac on there too, but I got so excited about testing it out I forgot to take a picture, lol.

Congratulations on your fountain pen success! I just realized that I completely forgot to respond to your first post on the subject (which I found really interesting), so I'm glad I'm commenting on this one. I love the way that you've meticulously documented the resurrection of your fountain pen through these wonderful pictures. I hope your beautiful fountain pen serves you well and will work for many more years to come! :-D

Thank you! And pshhhh you are too sweet. :3
(*coughs* Documenting processes is a secret joy of mine. You've found me out!)
I admit... now I'm thinking of all the other places I can go to treasure hunt for more busted up old pens. XD The restoration process was just so fun. I might be addicted.
