There is someone I haven’t met yet who is 2 lbs 1 oz. He was born last week, 15 weeks early, and someday he’ll call me aunt.

This week everything I think of floats back to him. How is he doing? Is he growing the way he should? ( Read more... )

This is so beautiful.

Isn’t it so true though that sometimes we write one thing only to realize we’re really supposed to be writing something else entirely.

Really pulling for this tiny little one. Hopefully they can stop the bleeding soon. I know itty bitty little things can make it and be well - I worked with a woman who'd had one, she called him her little peanut (that wasn't his name), because he was no bigger than that when born. He lived in the hospital for 4 months before it was safe to take him home. He's 8 now, and still a little small, but not there's not a dang thing in the world wrong with him. I can understand how everything in your world would center around this guy right now. May it always be so, for years and years to come.

You brought a lot of life to a little person who is in a situation where it's so easy to be seen as kind of just... medical. The struggle and the constant measuring and observation can take over, but it was lovely to hear you take a moment to stop it all to focus on him, the human. It was pretty moving.
