brief history lesson

"The formulation of a statement of war aims for propaganda purposes is very different from formulation of one defining the true national interest... If war aims are stated, which seem to be concerned solely with Anglo-American imperialism, they will offer little to people in the rest of the world, and will be vulnerable to Nazi counter-promises. I know that you want us all to see this and it's great, but it's kinda like all of us on your feed get everything twice. You post it here and you post it there, so it's kinda pointless to subscribe to the feed if it's only going to be here too.

I didn't expect you to "split" your life between there and LJ, but I did expect to have some different entries. Maybe I was wrong in expecting that? it just seems now that you type it up here copy and paste.
I can't really suggest what to do since it is your space. Just making you aware that more and more I see the same stuff.

Go back and check how many things I've posted both here and on the blog on the same day. It hasn't happened very often. This is maybe the 3rd time in the past 6 months, not including announcements about conferences I'm speaking at (which I tend to post about multiple times everywhere in the universe, or at least everywhere I can).

And I did make some changes when I posted it on the blog.

I can see that you did change things, but still it's essentially the same entry. And this is like the 3rd time this month that it's been posted here and on the blog (even if it was not posted the same day, and the blog did go into more detail).

Like I said, I just kinda assumed that there would be more of a difference as to this goes on LJ, this goes on the blog. And I haven't really got that feel, I don't know if you were even shooting for that.

I think the Revolutionary War was a mistake myself. Don't get me wrong, I love this country but I don't think there necessarily had to be a war to gain this independence. How many other former British colonies had to wage war to earn their freedom?

And aside from that, as a Christian we learn that we are not to rebel against authority. In the States it is awkward because we teach this lesson from the pulpit but also idolize the rebels which founded this country.

Sorry I am so late...just wanted to add that it is also factual that a great deal of "Americans" at the time did not support the war. IIRC, New York was one place that was seriously opposed to the notion of war. Their relationship with England was working fine and profitably for them...
