This is the Priestly Goth, Funny I was told that as well in Seminary. It kind of has been true in my case, at least in the formal sense: I no longer live in the academy, I do not have a PH.D. and have accepted I may never will. On the other hand I have not stopped studying and in part my blog is an attempt to have a scholarly outlet for my ideas from what I study. I like Wright's point that the bifurcation of pastoral and scholarly is a relatively recent development in the church.
