According to the postcard from him tipped in at the back of my signed copy of Joseph Vance, this is the place where the writer and Arts & Crafts ceramicist William De Morgan was living in Florence in February 1909.
1. Those barely-distinguishable stone motifs. They don't look anything like his work. I wonder what they are supposed to portray, and whether they were around when he was. 2. Someone's actually gone to the bother of fuzzing out the writing on the brass plaque. I wonder what it says. 3. Interesting to see the PVC drainage and telephone cables added on afterwards. 4. There's a postcard, or maybe a post-card sized concert promo-piece lying on the ground of a woman resting her head against her arm. I wonder when it was and who the person is. 5. I wish I could read arabic to know what the graffiti to the left of the next-door neighbor's door says. 6. All the shutters are painted blue. Old traditions die hard. 7. I wonder what flag was in the flagpole bracket was in his day, or was that a later addition.
