*Are* there any library schools in Chicago? It never seems to come up at the library school lj community/various other places I've been reading around...

Sorry to hear re: Laura.

It occurs to me that the recent/current MLIS people I know are YA librarians and HCI types, mostly, but if e-mail q&a would be helpful for the UMich, Madison (I think), or even UCB programs, let me know. (I figure you have your own resources as well!)

That would be excellent. I would also be interested in talking to digital archives/library types. I need to develop a more specific list of questions (and of schools!), but I will probably take you up on that in the near future.

(And, also, what is it about the first half of April? I hope it becomes less difficult for you.)

I saw that thread and thought about adding a "me too!", but it just seemed so absurd. I feel like we should get together in a virtual pub over a not-virtual pint of beer and commiserate, or something.

Good contra is definitely a consideration in choosing a place to go. Are you currently in NC? Chapel Hill is indeed on my long list, though they do perpetuate the librarian shortage myth on their webpage.

Also, your first comment makes me chuckle every time I look at it. And why do I not have a contra dance icon? Ginger Rogers is not quite appropriate...

just an option:

if you come up with a nyc school, there's a room in my apartment that will/can be open.

I would love love love to finally move to NYC after talking about it for at least a decade at this point, but I've heard mixed things about both Queens and Pratt as library schools. After school it will definitely be one of my target places to work, so...perhaps in three years or so.
