Surely possible to rig up modern LiPo batteries to provide those volts, with very practical endurance and rechargeable too, but that might be cheating. A nifty find! Do tubes have a shelf life, just sitting around cold?

That's one option I'm considering. I don't consider it cheating any more than modifying the power circuits in AC/DC radios for safety is cheating; it doesn't change the character of the radio, and makes it more practical ( ... )

I wonder if there really might be Some batteries Somewhere out there...
Or could be made?
At least I guess you could try it with DC power supplies...

I have FlashBulb holder that uses unusual size batteries and a capacitor, and I actually used it a few times over 20 years ago... :D
