Please understand my reasons for not speaking today.I am participating in the Day of Silence, a national youth movement protesting the silence faced by gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender people and their allies

not necessarily doing anything specific today, but i was part of the forefront in rhode island when we were the first state to protect all students on the basis of actual and percieved sexual orientation from discrimination. as far as i can tell we are still the only state that protects on perception as well. living in denver for less than a year, i see the LGBTQ community as pretty disjointed and am starting to establish some kind of connection between different groups. today is a day i think perhaps a bit more about what i can do to make things better, but it's also something that is in my consciousness every day.
