Perfect, perfect ending! I like hurt!Dean and caretaker!Sam, too. And just realized that it's rare (and oh so nice!) to have this type of fic from Dean's POV.

I *love* h/c, but I especially enjoy it when a character discovers something (however subtle) about himself or the other person, as a result.

This? Is exactly what I'm talkin' about!

I never liked this one shot. I actually hadn't read it over again since I posted it originally. I was afraid to because I thought I'd be cringing the whole time. But after reading your comment, I went back and read it through. I actually wasn't half as traumatized by my writing as I thought I would be. So thanks for that.

Thanks again! It would be nice to get into this sort of stuff, but I understand it doesn't move the plot along much. That's why we have fic, I guess :)

*melts* Lovely. Moments like this exist only in fanfic, and as much as I'd like them to exist in show, I really don't think the writers have this kind of instinct for the boys. You just did this so much better than I think they every could.

As a professed hurt!thehelloutta!Dean junkie, and equally comforting!alwaysthereforhim!Sam, this just hit all the right buttons for me.

Oh, and the description of Dean's unabated, overwhelming thirst... that was written so well I could feel my own throat close and scream for water. That was fantastic.

Ah, yes, it's hard to get the little moments like this out of the show. But I do have to give them credit for giving us some aw-worthy screen time, because the majority of shows? They just don't. At least we don't have the create the care and concern aspect between the brothers; we just have to write our own little scenes to let it shine.

Again, thanks for the kind and thoughtful comments. It is fun to whack Dean over the head -- three times --, isn't it?
