1. Walking
The first time Oshitari sees Mukahi on the Hyoutei campus it is the Sunday before classes begin and he assumes the shoulder-length-redhead is a girl, until she walks into the boy's tennis club changing room and proves just how wrong his assumption is.
2. Waltz
Whenever Yuushi enters a room, it's not with a saunter but more a graceful waltz that to this day Gakuto doesn't understand how his boyfriend maintains, but he enjoys the view of swaying hips nonetheless.
3. Wishes
Oshitari doesn't believe in making wishes, not on birthdays, not on stars, and definitely not on coin fountains, but on the day Mukahi drags him to the Tanabata festival and insists he write a wish down on a colorful strip of paper, the only thing he can think to write is a name, Gakuto.
4. Wonder
The eighth wonder of the world, at least to Gakuto, is how Yuushi is able to turn down and ignore all the advances his friend faces daily, and when he confronts Yuushi about this he is left speechless by Yuushi's reply of, "Perhaps it's because no one compares to the person standing before me now."
5. Worry
Oshitari has never been one to worry because to him life, good or bad, inevitably will happen, but he had to scrap that philosophy the day Mukahi Gakuto walked into his life, or more precisely leaped and bounded, forcing him at times to hold his breath with worry whether his friend will land feet first.
6. Whimsy
His boyfriend is a guy who lives his life by a set schedule that doesn't include flights of fancy or whimsies, so it's a pleasant surprise when Gakuto suggests they go out and build a snowman that Yuushi agrees to join him.

There is never a moment wasted between them when they are together, like now, Yuushi is seated on his bed, back pressed against its headboard, reading his Japanese literature assignment, while Gakuto is curled up between his bent legs reading over Biology notes for an upcoming exam.

Gakuto vows never to drink whiskey and rum, or any other alcoholic beverage, ever again no matter what they are celebrating, but when Yuushi places a kiss on his forehead once he is settled back in bed, he thinks the morning after headache and vomiting of a drinking binge is a small sacrifice to pay.

The war starts simple, with little tokens of love and adoration, as they each attempt to out do the other in levels of embarrassment, but Yuushi is determined not to be on the losing end, and when he sees the look of surprise in Gakuto's eyes as he closes in for a White Day kiss, Yuushi knows he has won.

"If the union between a man and woman is celebrated with a wedding, how should a union between two men be celebrated," he asked Yuushi, the day of one of Yuushi's colleague's weddings, to which Yuushi replied by pulling him close and kissing him soundly and thoroughly.

Gakuto stares with confusion into the box the redhead opened before saying, "Yuushi, we have sex all the time... I don't understand...” but Yuushi stops Gakuto's words by removing the tube of lubricant from the box and handing it to Gakuto saying, "For your birthday, I want you to fuck me."

He doesn't know why he is crying, but that is exactly what Gakuto finds himself doing, because it was only useless, wishful thinking on his part to believe that Yuushi's parents would give them their blessing.

The hardest part about tennis isn't coming up with new moves that push his body further than it's been pushed before, but rather the process of perfecting those moves which is always accompanied by painful bruising and burning scrapes, and his partner glowering while patching him up each and every time.

"Breathe," Oshitari whispers against Gakuto's ear, holding the smaller teen's rigid body in his arms as he waits for Gakuto's muscles and nerves to relax, and only when they do does he begin to move, pulling out and thrusting back into the tight hold of Gakuto body.

It feels like his world is breaking into a million pieces and all he can think to do is hide away in hopes of evading the inevitable pain that will follow, but he can never hide for long because Yuushi always knows where to find him.

"I believe you owe me a dance," Gakuto states, but no matter how much he protests saying I don't dance, Yuushi is amazed to discover that he actually does in fact dance, when it's Gakuto who is his partner.

Gakuto watches the colorful hot air balloon drift overhead with interest, thinking that it would be quite romantic to take a ride in one with Yuushi, but he will never admit that to anyone, least of all Yuushi, because he doesn't want it getting out that he is a romantic at heart.

"What do you think Atobe's reaction would be if he caught us having sex on his balcony," Gakuto asks, but Yuushi doesn't get a chance to respond or protest before Gakuto pounces and he realizes quickly that he doesn't really care what Atobe's reaction would be.

"Shishido-san may be the bane of your existence, but I happen to like his affect on you," Oshitari admits, and surprises him even further by adding, "you get all... cute when you are agitated."

Their dorm room is eerily quiet, and Oshitari can only hold his breath, hoping they haven't made the wrong decision, until Gakuto speaks up and says, "Yuushi, I think we should do that again."

"You know you love me," Gakuto states, causing Yuushi's mouth to quirk into a subtle smile which confirms his statement.

"Will we be together forever," Gakuto asks, and Yuushi not only surprises his boyfriend, but himself as well, when he replies without hesitation saying, "Yes."

"I hate you, Yuushi," he shouts but no matter what he says, his body betrays him in the end when Yuushi crushes their lips together and he is no longer able to remember what they were quarreling about.
25. Quitting
After entering high school and choosing not to pursue tennis, Oshitari vowed he would end things with Gakuto because without tennis what did they really have in common, but he quickly discovered that while quitting tennis was easy, there was simply no quitting Gakuto.

Mukahi finds it humorous if not ironic that while jumping and leaping on court is a piece of cake, off court, when dealing with Yuushi and their friendship, he hesitates in taking a leap, waiting for Yuushi to make the first move.

No matter how crazy, or goofy, or unreasonable Gakuto can act, if anyone were to ask who he thought the biggest jester on the Hyoutei tennis team was, Oshitari would answer with Atobe, hands down.

Gakuto can't stop grinning and laughing uncontrollably as the pillow Yuushi wields whacks the back of his head seconds before he swings his own in defense and retaliation, knocking Yuushi's glasses askew and causing the usually stoic tensai to break out in a huge grin and a laugh just as hearty.

Gakuto stares at the birthday gift in his hands like he's been given the crown jewels of some ungodly wealthy country, and it's then that Oshitari knows that Gakuto will be the only one ever worthy enough to be granted this gift.

Yuushi stares at him patiently, waiting for him to continue, waiting for him to say anything, but he doesn't even know how to say what he wants to say, and in the end Gakuto settles for, "It's just... I just... I like you... I really, really, really like you."

All it takes is one look for Gakuto to know what he is thinking, and the way Oshitari knows his thoughts have been understood is when he receives the devilish little smirk Gakuto returns.
32. Sorrow
It is with great sorrow that Gakuto graduates from Hyoutei middle school because he knows the reign of the Oshitari-Mukahi doubles partnership is over, but the sorrow doesn't last long as a hand slips into his own and Yuushi leads him off the middle school grounds.

He doesn't suffer from moments of stupidity often, but this would have to be one of those rare occurrences as he stares down at an expectant Gakuto, speechless, whom is waiting for him to response to the redhead's declaration of love.

On many occasions Gakuto has tried coaxing Yuushi to participate in karaoke to no avail, which is why he is most shocked when he is woken up one morning to the amazingly sexy and seductive sound of Oshitari's deep, sultry voice serenading him.

The sex was supposed to be a temporary thing, something to quench their desires during a dry spell, but one time turned into two and before Gakuto knew it neither of them had dated or even fooled around with anyone else but each other in over a year, a surprising realization that he didn't seem to mind.

"Yuushi, what are you doing," Gakuto demands as he drags the redhead by the hand back to their shared dorm room, because there are just some days when he doesn't want to share his boyfriend with anyone else.

Looking out over the Hyoutei high school tennis courts, Gakuto is scared by the realization of how much he has come to depend upon his former doubles partner now that he will be standing on those courts alone.
