Summary: Yuushi spends his free day with Gakuto
He begins his walk from the train station to Gakuto's home at a leisurely pace. It's a pleasant and warm late Spring day of which they have plans to head into downtown to see what kind of mischief Gakuto can get them into before taking in a meal wherever Gakuto chooses. It isn't uncommon for Gakuto to get his way, but that is only because when Gakuto thinks he's won in any debate with Yuushi, in reality Yuushi is the true winner by seeing the spark of victory in steel-gray eyes and a satisfied smirk that always makes Yuushi's breath catch and heart clench. It's the best of both worlds, where they both win in completely different respects.
Thinking about Gakuto causes Yuushi's steps to quicken and as he rounds the corner Gakuto's family home comes into view. This is far from his first and definitely not his last trip to Gakuto's home if Yuushi has anything to say about the matter since Gakuto and he are more than simple friends and tennis partners. They may only be sixteen years old, assumed too young to know what love really is, but there is no question in Yuushi's mind that he loves his sarcastic, blunt and temperamental redhead boyfriend, and he plans on keeping Gakuto in his life for a very, very, very long time.
Once he's reached the Mukahi's gate, Yuushi opens and closes it without preamble, but when he turns to walk up the pathway leading to the home's front door Yuushi is met by a sight that stops him in his tracks.
"Gakuto?" Yuushi whispers in a disbelieving and questioning tone.
Logic tells him there is no possible way that this is Gakuto, that Gakuto couldn't suddenly shrink or revert back to early grade school size, but the similarities between his boyfriend and the pint-sized cuteness performing somersaults and cartwheels perfectly in the Mukahi's elegantly manicured front lawn are uncanny: the small body executes the same flawless movements as Gakuto, has the same mischievous eyes and ornery smirk, along with a cute pointed nose and the signature burgundy-red hair.
Yuushi closes his eyes and shakes his head, as if by doing so the mirage before him will disappear, and yet when he opens his eyes the mini-Gakuto is still present, but is now looking up at him with a bothered gaze.
"What are you staring at?" Miniature Gakuto asks, hands resting on hips that are angled in a way that expresses the small child's annoyance.
Hearing the patent Gakuto attitude coming from the cute pipsqueak causes Yuushi's heart to skip a beat and question whether logic is all it's cracked up to be in life. Perhaps he stepped through a wormhole, transporting him back in time.
This couldn't be... could it?
"There you are you little monster!" The real, the sixteen-year-old, Gakuto shouts barreling out the front door, hands settling on annoyed hips in a mirror image of the shorty in the front yard. "You know you're not allowed outside without supervision."
The shorter redhead's arms cross against a scrawny chest and a familiar pout appears on the child's cupid lips before a tiny foot stomps the ground.
"No fair!"
It's at this point Yuushi can no longer keep quiet, his chuckle and subsequent laugh bursting forth.
"Yuushi!" Gakuto shouts, bounding across the pathway separating them and leaping on him.
He is only able to catch Gakuto's petite form by sheer practice and experience of multiple greetings in this same manner. One would think it's been ages since they last saw each other or that his visit is a surprise, when in reality it has barely been a full day and their plans have been set for a week.
Yuushi can't help admitting that he likes these greetings best.
"Gakuto," Yuushi replies as Gakuto settles against him, legs wrapping around his waist and arms around his neck.
His hands find their way to his boyfriend's pert and firm ass, helping to support Gakuto's weight and cop a feel at the same time without being too obvious.
Yes, there is no other way to properly greet Gakuto.
"Who's your little friend?"
Gakuto looks down to glare over his shoulder at the smaller version of himself who, not surprisingly, is returning Gakuto's glare full force.
"Katsuko-sama," Gakuto replies glumly, extracting himself from Yuushi. "She's my little cousin. My Aunt and Uncle had some party or other they needed to go to, so they dumped her here for the afternoon. By the way, we're stuck here until they pick her up."
He's not surprised to discover the pint-sized version of Gakuto is a girl, after all he did make the mistake of assuming Gakuto was a girl the first time he spotted the redhead on the Hyoutei Junior High campus. He laughs again at the sheer irony of the past situation and the present tableau.
"Shut up, Yuushi," Gakuto bites out angrily and turns the glare in his direction.
"I didn't say a word," Yuushi protests halfheartedly, trying for innocence and failing miserably, probably because he can't stop chuckling.
"You didn't, but I know you," Gakuto says. "I know what you're thinking."
Yuushi continues chuckling, despite the consequences he will most definitely be facing for the outburst, then looks down to see Katsuko staring up at him.
"I like you," Katsuko blurts out and giggles, quickly covering her mouth and blushing.
He can't help but smile adoringly down at Katsuko, who is so much like her cousin in looks and attitude that he wants to bottle her up for safe keeping.
"Hey!" Gakuto shouts, grabbing hold of his arm. "He's my Yuushi, get your own."
Yuushi sighs. Gakuto never likes sharing.
"My Yu-ushi!" Katsuko shouts back, taking hold of his other hand.
Yuushi sighs again. Apparently there are even more similarities between the two cousins.
"Yuushi!" Gakuto hisses, pleading for assistance, which basically puts him between a rock and a hard place.
His choices are clear, either he denies his temperamental boyfriend of what Gakuto wants, or disappoints the cutest little Gakuto look-a-like he's ever seen, who is apparently equally as temperamental and will probably end up crying. Some how he thinks he would rather face the consequences of a disappointed boyfriend over the tears of small child.
"Gakuto..." he begins, pausing a moment when Gakuto looks at him with pouting lips and pleading eyes. "I think for today..."
"Yuushi..." Gakuto whines.
"Gakuto, look at her," Yuushi instructs.
Gakuto and he both look down at Katsuko who has perfected the lip quiver and doleful eyes with just a hint of moisture. How Gakuto doesn't see what he does when looking at her is beyond Yuushi, but then again, Gakuto isn't one to pay too much attention to himself, or be too concerned with looks to realize she is Gakuto's spitting imagine.
"It's only for today," he whispers encouragingly, adding in a seductive tone, "you know I am always and only yours."
Yuushi sees and feels the shiver that passes through Gakuto's body, knowing his boyfriend's weakness and using it to his advantage. He will probably pay dearly for that as well, but when Gakuto's shoulders sag, relenting claim, Yuushi feels it will be worth it.
"Fine," Gakuto grouses out, arms crossing, before looking down at Katsuko with a stern, warning expression. "But be careful with him. Don't break him or anything."
Katsuko beams up at them both before tugging on his hand. "Come on, lets go play!"
He allows himself to be pulled toward the house and for some reason he can't stop smiling.
"Don't say I didn't warn you," Gakuto teases from behind, following them nonetheless.
"I don't believe you did warn me, actually," Yuushi returns, not really caring that their plans for the afternoon have been postponed when he still gets to spend that time with his boyfriend, and a cute little miniature version of Gakuto too.
"Well, I'm warning you now," Gakuto says. "She can be a bit temperamental, you know."
Yuushi snorts in response, because what else is there to say to that?
"Shut up, Yuushi."
Whatever is to come can't be any worse than what Gakuto puts him through daily, Yuushi thinks. Then again, looking down at the mini-Gakuto firmly grasping his hand and leading the way in a manner that warns anyone to not even think about questioning where they are going, Yuushi realizes there might be some merit in Gakuto's warning.
