Summary: A late Autumn movie day for Oshitari and Mukahi.

It is Sunday afternoon, and as usual when Yuushi and Gakuto have no family or school obligations, they are spending their free time together. During the Spring and Summer months they usually spend the time outdoors, taking part in activities like tennis or visiting a temple or shrine, or just simply enjoying each other's company at a park or beach, but on the cooler days of Autumn, and even colder days of Winter, they can usually be found taking refuge in the Hyoutei high school dorms or the local movie house, the latter being today's choice of activity.

Going to the movies with Gakuto is never an easy task, mainly because their tastes in film genre greatly differ. Where Gakuto likes action and comedy, Yuushi prefers drama and romance. Nine times out of ten Gakuto wins the battle in movie selection, because while Yuushi likes his chick flicks, it isn't a hardship to watch the movies Gakuto chooses because he too enjoys action and comedy, but Yuushi does use this secret to his advantage. The one time out of ten that he forces Gakuto to suffer through whatever movie he's chosen is Yuushi's golden opportunity to expose Gakuto to a little culture beyond explosions and slapstick.

When the lights of the movie theater go up, Yuushi finds it mildly amusing to hear Gakuto hiccuping and sniffling next to him while the ending credits scroll by. Through his peripheral vision he watches Gakuto wipe at wet eyes with a shirtsleeve, and he can't help thinking about how different this scene is compared to the one Gakuto displayed when they arrived at the movie theater barely two hours ago.

He never expects Gakuto to admit liking any of the movies he chooses, but Yuushi doesn't need verbal confirmation when he is witness to Gakuto's raw, emotion-filled reaction at each film's ending. He knows the movies have been appreciated no matter the kicking and screaming outside the theater, and the cross-armed pout and glare as the theater lights go down. This is not the first time he's had a blubbering Gakuto on his hands, and he knows it won't be the last.

When Gakuto finally looks over at him it is to smile and laugh forcefully through another hiccup. If he weren't already in love with the redhead, he surely would have fallen hard for the other teen right then and there. No one could have predicted such a match up on or off the tennis court, but there is just something about Gakuto's spiteful attitude and no-holds-bars mouth that Yuushi never gets enough of or wants to share with anyone else. To Yuushi, together, they simply make perfect sense no matter what anyone says or assumes.

"That movie sucked," Gakuto complains, still wiping at glossy eyes.

Yuushi smiles knowingly at his boyfriend's response, which he'd been anticipating before they chose their seats or even arrived at the theater. It's the same response he gets each and every time they watch one of his films.

"Yes, I know."

"It did!" Gakuto insists with a glare. "It totally sucked."

Gakuto's words might have been more believable if the other teen wasn't still sniffling. Yuushi can't help teasing his redhead with a smirk, and stating, "I can see."

"Shut up, Yuushi!"

This time he chuckles out loud as Gakuto glowers at him with arms crossed. It is moments like this when he wishes to be the only one Gakuto looked at that way, that he be the only one capable of riling the other teen into speechless glares and glowers and pouts, but then again, if no one else saw what he did, they wouldn't be privy to seeing what they could never have.

Yuushi smirks and ruffles Gakuto's hair before standing to pull on his knee length, wool coat.

"Come on, Gakuto, let's go."

Gakuto stands and follows Yuushi out the row of seats and down the isle toward the theater exit.

"I don't know why you wore that heavy thing," Gakuto mumbles, tugging on the back of his coat.

"I don't know why you didn't," Yuushi states, looking back over his shoulder.

Gakuto might not be prancing around town in a pair of shorts and a tank top, but his boyfriend's choice in clothing is definitely not appropriate for a late fall day. Tan, loose fitting khakis and a black, short sleeved T-shirt with some obscure band's logo over a green and black striped, long sleeved T-shirt doesn't offer enough protection for cool Autumn days, let alone a day when the weather could change at the drop of a hat. Add to that the fact that Gakuto is one to get colder before most, Yuushi can see that thinking was definitely not part of Gakuto's morning when the redhead got dressed.

"What? It is warm today," Gakuto argues back as they exit the theater and head for the building's exit.

Yuushi gives his boyfriend a question look, questioning Gakuto's sanity. "Warmer yes, but it is December, Gakuto, and while it may have been ten degrees when we left, you shouldn't get careless."

Gakuto's eyes roll over hearing his words, and at the very same moment they step outside and are hit by a gust of cold air that even makes him shiver.

"Fuck!" Gakuto exclaims, heedless of the surrounding pedestrians, some of them small children, and wrapping scrawny arms around his chest.

"See, I told you," Yuushi admonishes, pushing his glasses up. "Do you want to go back in? I'm sure I can call..."

"No," Gakuto interrupts through a chatter of teeth. "The station's just a few b-b-blocks. I'll be f-f-fine."

Yuushi doubts that, and tries again.

"But it would be no trouble..."

"Y-Y-Yuushi," Gakuto interrupts again, pausing to shiver before continuing. "D-d-did I st-st-stutter?"

He doesn't dare answer the question verbally, but he can't help smirking either.

"Shut up and walk," Gakuto spits out, taking the lead.

He follows behind Gakuto's quickened steps, amending that next time he will either bring an extra layer or make sure Gakuto wears a coat no matter what the temperature is when they start out for the day.

They make it to the train station within ten minutes, which is pretty good timing, but not quick enough to catch the train they both realize as they arrive on the platform only to see the back end of the missed train just barely in sight. It will be another twenty minutes before the next train arrives.

"Here," Yuushi says, attempting to unbutton his coat and give it to Gakuto.

"I d-d-don't n-n-need your d-d-damn coat!"

While he loves Gakuto's stubbornness, in moments like this he really hates it as well.

They stand side by side in silence. The only sound between them is the quiet chatter of Gakuto's teeth and the shiver in his boyfriend's breathing. When he looks down at Gakuto with concern, no matter how stubborn Gakuto can be, he can't stand by watching his boyfriend freeze to death.

"Come here," Yuushi says firmly, unbuttoning his coat, because no matter what Gakuto says in protest, he is not taking no for an answer this time.

"I'm fine," Gakuto grouses out. "I t-t-told you. I d-d-don't n-n-need you d-d-damn coat."

"I didn't say I was giving you my coat," he returns, holding his coat open. "I said, come here."

Gakuto's eyes widen in shock at what he is offering, but after a quick look around at the other people slowly gathering on the platform to wait for the next train, any cautions or reservations usually held are thrown to the wind when said wind blows again. Gakuto moves into the opening of his coat, arms tucking between their chests, and Yuushi pulls the coat closed around Gakuto's shivering and shaking body.

"See, isn't that better?" Yuushi murmurs the question in a sultry voice.

Gakuto nods, head tucked securely under his chin, and the arms originally tucked up between them snake around his back in an embrace, which he returns. Gakuto shivers one last time before snuggling closer and sighing contentment in the warmth of his coat and arms.

Yuushi can't help thinking it ironic that for as much as Gakuto claims to hate anything to do with romance, and teases him about being a romantic at heart, it's interesting to note how Gakuto has no problem with indulging his romanticism in moments like this, planned or unplanned.

His chuckling doesn't even register until he is being admonished again.

"Shut up, Yuushi!"

Yuushi shakes his head, his smile unstoppable, and tightens his arms around Gakuto. Somehow, he thinks it isn't so important for Gakuto to remember a coat the next time they go out, especially if the ending result is this.
