[ By now Peter knows that when the full moon comes around he should be prepared - which is to say this particular day he came into the Blue Light looking one age and now is walking around looking quite another, but possibly the staff ought to be used to it now as well. His attire for the age he actually is - if anyone asked, and unsurprisingly few ( Read more... )

[ Peter notices immediately because he actually noticed Finnick upon her entrance, if mainly due to the fact that he keeps one eye mostly on the door. With the pen notched between his fingers, absently tapping once against the clean wood of the counter top edge, he moves behind the bar when it becomes clear that the current attendant has their hands full - again, Saturday makes this completely normal. He tucks the clipboard in a holder nailed to the inside and under part of the counter's closing curve, just inside the swinging door before straightening and making his way until he stands just in front of the as-of-yet unattended customer. Well, he assumes she is, considering the decided point of pause.

Everything from his posture to his tone denotes politeness, warm in a way that comes easiest to Peter when he's literally in his own skin - one he'll have to wait more than a decade to reclaim once he goes back 'home', which is something he tries not to dwell on these days. ]

Sorry to keep you waiting - can I help you?

[At first glance, Finnick almost mistakes the man in front of him for Robert Chase; they may not be perfectly identical, but they're certainly close enough to pass at a glance. It's only after he carefully disguises his double-take with a look-over and a follow-up smile--both typically feminine habits in themselves--that he's able to spot the very subtle difference. It's something in the way they carry themselves, the confidence they exude, the presence they give off. Also, the complete lack of Chase's weird accent (weird, at least, to Finnick's ears) helps a great deal.]

I sure hope so. [He considers a minute; he's not particularly looking to drink, but there are appearances to be had and one shouldn't cause too many problems. The greater concern is giving himself away as unusual by not knowing the name of the drinks themselves. Naturally he knows the Panem variants, but if there's one thing he's learned in his stay here, it's that this very notably isn't Panem.] Recommend me a cocktail? Something sweet.

[ There's something on the menu involving mint and marshmallow that Peter supposes might suit but there's also something fashioned after a lemon drop and chocolate type mixtures etc, etc, etc. Still it's impossible to go on based on guesswork alone. He arches a brow, the precursor to inquiry. ]

I'd hate to serve you something you dislike. Do your tastes run more toward sweet on the sugary side of things or offset - minty, for example, or citrus?

[At least he's not a woman today, that was bad enough last month. He comes in and sits at the bar, and doesn't wait for his big brother's attention to nab some soda water]

[ Not that he needs permission, but Peter shoots Edmund a dry look anyway as if to say I did see that you know, as if it matters. When able, he does walk over to the conveniently empty seat beside the Just and slides into it, turning on the stool toward him. ] By all means, help yourself. [ He's teasing and Edmund will know that, Peter's sure because though they don't always look it, they've had years upon years together to sort out each others ticks and tocks. It doesn't always get applied, and Peter's time in the City has given him some of his old self back even if he didn't know it at first - where before their return to Narnia anger and the lack of knowing had clouded him, made him younger.

He wonders if, after being gone again, Edmund finds it strange to be in his old body, so to speak - young-old. ]

I will, thank you.

[Edmund is so used to Peter's 'dry looks' that they don't even phase him anymore - he just smiles and takes what he likes and does it all in stride]

I'm almost sorry you're not a woman today.

[ If Peter was drinking something, he would probably choke on it. They are equal parts fortunate and unfortunate that this is not the case. He levels an inquiring look in its place. ]

Almost?

[ He doesn't have to try for incredulity. Some things are natural. ]

You don't need additional help today, do you?

[ Today is one of his new off days, and he feels well enough to come in, however, he's acquired certain... issues lately. ]

We don't particularly, no.

Did you want the extra hours anyway? I'm sure we can find something.

[In waltzes one Caspian X ready for monitor duty because active bartending work is just...not something he does. Honestly. Seeing Peter causes him to pause briefly if only because he's still refamiliarizing himself with that form.]

[ Caspian happens to arrive just as Peter is stepping out from behind the bar - though that is obviously something he does, honestly - and reclaiming the clipboard, letting the arm attached to the hand holding it fall to his side as he spots the Telmarine. Perhaps they meet at some middle-point or perhaps at the back near one of the employee-only side-doors that lead into the back halls leading one direction to Peter's office, another to the cellar, so on and so forth.

Either way, once alongside him, Peter stops. ] Is it getting more familiar to you yet? [ He nods at their surroundings because he means The Blue Light, assuming it like everything else in the City became a wisp of memory once gone from it, a dream of a dream. ]

[Following Peter through to the back comes naturally.]

What?

[Caspian blinks once, twice, then nods. He must be referring to the surroundings because as long as the Telmarine has been returned to this realm, the Englishman has not been so bold as to refer to the seeming foreigness of himself.]

Oh, yes, it is. That's your office. This. [He gestures to a door.] Is mine.

[And by the way...] You're taller.

[ His smile smooths to something a little wry and, if one knows the right way to look, a little fond as he nods because the allocation of rooms is accurate and so is the other thing. ] Yes and yes. Funny how that happens, when we get older. [ He heads for his own office, the automatic habit of holding the door open slightly behind him as natural as much older tendencies and maybe more meaningful. ]

[Peter's network device isn't the only thing at his elbow because in a matter of a few moments, Ginny Weasley appears at his other one, an empty tray dangling from her fingertips and her lips quirked into an amused grin.]

It's a really friendly sort of crowd tonight, isn't it, Peter?

[ooc; OMG HI I SAW THE LEGIT PRINCE CASPIAN COSTUMES TODAY AT DISNEY. :DDD]
