These seem to be popular in the sense that they are often all new "starting points" for people. After all, doesn't the idea of letting go of the shackles of the past sound appealing? Sure does like hell for me and I've put up a mental list of resolutions for this new year (mostly because I don't want it to end like the terribly unsatisfactory year
