Well, depending on the age, Diary of a Wimpy Kid is very popular in the 3-5th grade that I've seen. So some kind of animal daily 'diary' with drawn illustrations might be good. All kinds of things could be worked into that format.
As the kids get older... I get unsure, so don't ask me. All I know about is the horrors of Twilight.
I'll have to discuss with Jen what age group we'd be planning on focusing on. That's not a bad idea if we decide to go for a younger crowd though. Thanks!
Urgh. Why does MTV continue to exist again? Though that does give me hope that a "cribs" spoof wouldn't be completely from left field. Vlad had a good suggestion too, Animal Apprentice.
It's less of what's wrong with dolphins and more of the ridiculousness that people who love dolphins seem to exude. Not the awesome people who work with and study dolphins, they're smart. The crazy average person. Most people have this really weird concept of dolphins, very Flipper-esque. That they're noble and cheerful and peaceful and helpful and a whole lot of other nonsense. They're pretty much jerks of the sea. They kill for fun, kidnap babies and keep females hostage while raping them. They're fascinating, but people have these weird ideas about them.
Instead of Cribs, you could do "Pads"! :) But yeah, no twilight - boooooo twilight! You could do spin-offs of like, Lost and Heroes - instead of "lost" do "Found" for species that are on the brink of extinction? Umm... Zeroes - the animals no one likes? lol
I like Pads! Cute. Also Heroes is a good idea. Lots of animals have awesome "super powers". I worry that the Lost and Found idea is too tenuous of a concept though. I'll have to think about that some more though, it may work. My friend also suggested Apprentice. I'm diggin' that one too.

I'm afraid I have no suggestions, sadly.
