Update: It's fixed! I changed the cables that connected the monitors, and that worked.I'm posting this to Linux Forums, but I haven't had a response, and if I don't fix it soon, I'm going to have to install XP over this Linux install. Have you tested to see if the monitor is known good?
It might be the cold cathode light that's failing.

(yes, my gut instinct is to check for hardware issues before software. and that's the issue on my Thinkpad 600e)
