Teen pregnancy

Just got to know from IT Guru about this case, oh dear. Well, Chicago Tribune says there was no pact, who knows.

I think teen pregnancy is bad, and children should be educated about contraception stuff and other necessary things like that. Including something about how to take care of the baby. Talking to friends who have children, I start thinking ( Read more... )

I read an article today that one of the girls concerned said there was no pact, the pregnancies were accidents and the girls are all just trying to support each other. I think teenage pregnancy is a _horrible_ thing, but hopefully they do stick to the idea of helping each other, because a support network is absolutely crucial, _especially_ to young parents. Otherwise all their friends and everyone else they know is childless and just doesn't understand and that makes for depressed mommies which is no good for anybody ( ... )

I always think it's a big lack of info in many cases. Looks like teen are often being scared how bad pregnancy and STIs are, but with a message "Don't have sex". I wonder if it could be more effective with message "Have sex if you want to, but make sure you have it safe", followed by explanations of how exactly to make it safe.

But it may also be the mythology around it. The weirdest myth I've ever seen was "After defloration you can have sex with anyone you want and during a whole year there is no way you get pregnant!" Actually, some myths make me think people have no idea about basic biology, even though they are supposed to learn it at school... Oh well.

Yeah, but most teenagers are more likely to stop listening after "have sex if you want to" and ignore the boring technical details.

... unless the permission makes it less interesting:-)
Oh well, can be said as "If you take care of safety yourself, you can have sex", though all depends on one's intellectual level, of course;-))) Yeah...
Looks like being a mother is a hard work:-(

Can't get rid of your child? Anyone heard of abortion, adoption, and disowning? Um hello, if you don't want your kid, adopt it out. If it's 10 and you don't want it, give it to your parents and move country like the pathetic shell of a human being you are. Easy.

In same childfree community someone said she was told "You need to have a child, so hurry up and give birth. If you later decide you don't want a child you can always give him to orphanage." Those were people who speak about how important it is for a woman to have children.

If I remember correctly, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, famous for his writings on how to bring up children, was actually giving his own children to the orphanage. 5 of them, I think.
