Bad news

My fluffy, white dog, Angus, has been diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia. For a dog that is just over a year old, his case is bad. The Xray showed that neither of his hips are in joint. Our options are limited. With pain management, we would pay $50 a month and he would basically be doped up all the time. We do not even consider this a long term ( Read more... )

my cousin's dog, honeybear, had something similar. she's been living with it for years, she's had at least one surgery- i think the first one you mentioned. she's a pomeranian. She's usually a lovey bundle of jumpy fluffy dancy nerves, but she has her bad days.

I would go with the 5k surgery- I know i've spent at least as much on ferrets in the last year or so- talk to your vet; some allow payment plans, mine allows me to post date checks (as in, they have a pile about an inch high of checks of mine, paying 50-400 a month, depending on the month.) That will help take the sting out of it.

Good luck, he sounds like a fluffy sweet guy.
