Mahora Academy, Japan 2003
Asuna was not having a good week. First, she woke-up hanging on the stage wearing only underwear, used as bait and somehow used against Negi to dispel and deflect his magic.
And now this...
"I'm going where?"
"Fandom High," the Headmaster, Konoe-sensei, repeated.
Asuna looked at the old man, "Why?"
"Its a new program we're trying," Takahata-sensei said and as always when Takahata spoke, it was like there were sparkles everywhere. Doom laden sparkly words but sparkly nonetheless.
"Uh…" Asuna began, "why me?"
Much as she hated to admit it there was a reason why she was in the bottom five of the class.
"The teachers had a raffle and your name was chosen, Asuna-kun," Takahta-sensei said smiling at her warmly. Normally, Asuna never questioned Takahata but…
"I'll be leaving Mahora?" Mahora Academy wasn't only a school to Asuna, it was the only home she's ever known.
"It's only for a while." Takahata-sensei assured her.
She mulled it over then nodded, if Takahata-sensei said so… "Okay!"

"I can't believe you're really leaving." Negi looked ready to cry. Her bags were packed. A lot happened in such short time that it felt like she'd stepped from the real world and into Eva-chan time dilated castle. As soon as she agreed to her transfer from Mahora to Fandom High, the Headmaster had her packing and ready to leave in just under a day.
Now here she was, waiting for the bus that would take her from Mahora to Narita airport.
"Hey," Asuna said, "Takahata-sensei said I'll only be gone for a while."
"But--"
"I'll come back," she said then grinned. "I did promise to help find your father, didn't I?"
"Yeah--"
"So, no crying," Asuna chuckled then poked Negi. "You're still such a kid!"
"I am a kid!" Negi protested.
Asuna blinked rapidly because if there was one big reason that made her really hesitate, it was Negi. In the time she's met Negi, the young ten year old teacher turned from annoyance to the closest thing to a brother Asuna had. Fortunately, Konoka her roommate of many years, stepped forward and hugged her. "I'm going to miss you."
"I'll miss you too, Konoka." She let go of Konoka then grinned at the ponytailed brunette behind Konoka. "And you too, Setsuna. I promise I'll practice my kendo."
Setsuna laughed and said. "I'm sure you will, Asuna-san!"
"Kagurazaka-san." Asuna turned and saw Kuzuha-sensei waiting for her by a car, there was another teacher Asuna didn't recognize on the driver's side but no Takahata. "We'll be taking you to the airport."
"I'm ready--"
"So, indeed, it is true!" A familiar annoying voice chimed in. "The violent monkey of 3A is leaving!"
"Class Rep," Asuna greeted with narrowed eyes.
"I think this is a cause for celebration!"
"I think you should fall off that ledge!"
"What was that, you violent monkey?"
"A little hard of hearing, are ya, you shota-con?"
There was a shriek and as expected Ayaka tried to smash Asuna's head with her fist and it would have except she and Ayaka have been playing this game since they were kids. Asuna avoided the blow and responded by pinching Ayaka's cheeks, there was another frustrated shout and the next thing Asuna knew Ayaka was also pinching her cheeks.
Behind her she saw Konoka giggling and Negi wiping his eyes murmuring something about 'good friends'.
Suddenly someone dragged her from Ayaka by the scruff of her neck. "You shouldn't fight now, Kazuha-sensei is waiting."
Asuna blinked and turned her head to see Chachamaru, Eva-chan's robot servant staring back at her. "Chachamaru-san?"
"You really are troublesome, Asuna Kagurazaka."
"Eva-chan!" Asuna exclaimed in surprise then she looked around and realized all of her classmates were around. "Everyone?"
"They're here to see you off," Eva-chan explained in a bored tone. "The class rep organized this, I don't even know why she bothered since all you two do is fight."
"Class Rep?" Asuna looked at Ayaka dumbstruck.
"What's with that face?"
"Thank you."
"Well," Ayaka said, sounding gruff, "you're not so bad for a monkey."
"Kagurazaka-san?" Kazuha-sensei called again, "We really have to go now."
And because she really might lose it there, Asuna grabbed her bags and ran to the car.
"Asuna!"
She turned around at the last second and suddenly her classmates unfurled a banner: Return Home Soon, Asuna!
Asuna threw-up her free hand making a thumbs up sign, "You got it!"

Takahata watched Touko and Gadolfini drive Asuna away from Mahora. "Are you really sure about this, Headmaster?"
"The demon breached our seals in Mahora," the headmaster said, putting his hands behind his back. "And, reportedly he was here to test Asuna's Magic Cancel ability. I think it would be safer to assume that Asuna's true identity is compromised and until Akashi finds out more about Fate Averruncus, I think it's safer if Asuna is away from Mahora."
"Is this Fandom High safer?"
The headmaster suddenly turned away, "Oho! I think its time for my weekly Go match with Evangeline."
Takahata blinked.
"I really have to run for an eight hundred year old vampire Evangeline never learned to be patient."
The Headmaster exited his office leaving Takahata blinking in his wake. "What just happened?"
