In the moonlight, the lake is silvery and the distant hills are black as Teja comes out from the war forge into the icy night air, listening for howls.
He is carrying two buckets to fetch more water from the lake -- you needed water in a smithy, and it got used up quickly. There was a faucet somewhere around, but Teja actually prefers the near-icy lake water for his work, and for quenching his thirst while he worked.
He walks down to the lake shore and steps between the rushes, frozen and black against the silvery mirror of lake water, and dips his buckets in. Dark circles wander outside on the moonlit surface, intersecting.
It is a beautiful place for monsters.
